HOW DOES CONCRETE COMPARE TO OTHER SURFACES?
<< Previous FAQ Next FAQ >>

Allowing plenty of time for designing and color selection will ensure on-schedule delivery.

When comparing countertops the three major areas to look at are price, durability, and time of development. Here’s how concrete countertops compare in those three major areas.

Price: Concrete is in the price-range of granite. It is approximately $70-120 per square foot.

Durability: Just like your driveway or sidewalk, it is durable; however, it is porous and sensitive to acids. Therefore all concrete elements are sealed to prevent staining and etching. Because of the sealer, hot pots should not be placed directly upon the surface. A piece of granite, a stone or glass mosaic, raised brass or stainless steel ridges can isolate hot pots from contact with the countertop surface. Trivets are another solution to insulate the countertop from extreme heat.

Time: Allowing plenty of time for designing and color selection will ensure on-schedule delivery. It is not a good “last minute” selection because concrete can usually only be fabricated after the cabinets it rests upon have been installed. Turn around time from on-site measurement is 4-6 weeks.
